Hi, I’m Lorraine Morgan. For me, exploring the practical Qabalah and Tree of Life has been a wonderful adventure. The deeper I went into the teachings the more inspired I became to understand more about myself and the part each of us plays within the bigger, spiritual picture.
The practical Qabalah taught me to be less subjective and more objective. Less focused on me, and more aware of others. I found the teachings a challenge. They tested my will-power and self motivation. I realised early on in my studies that I needed to be dedicated and committed otherwise what was the point?
The Tree of Life has helped me in so many different ways
Although I keep finding myself back at the beginning re-examining the basics and reminding myself what they are. It is easy to throw in the towel and get bored with what can seem like endless self analysis but then how can anything change if you are not prepared to make the effort?
This is why I feel that although Qabalah is for everyone, not everyone may be ready for Qabalah.
In my perspective to study the Qabalah you need to be at a stage in your life when you are ready to take a look, not only at yourself, but also the life you are leading, and to accept that the only person that can make a difference – is You.
The journey exploring the Qabalistic Tree of Life is very exciting however, I quickly realised enlightenment cannot be given to you – you have to work for it but not in the way you might think, you are working on yourself, getting to know yourself because the key thing in Qabalah is:
Know Thy Self
The journey often begins with a commitment. A commitment you make to yourself, as a personality, to get to Know Thyself. It’s not about doing loads of meditating and blowing your head off with visions, it’s about a journey of self-discovery. The reason I found it exciting was because I started to look at life in a completely different way. It was almost as if I had to turn things on their head and view life upside down.
There are likely to be times of tremendous highs, and times when you may feel quite low, because maybe you’re discovering things that you don’t like about yourself or struggling to come to terms with who you really are, and your reactions in certain situations.
The phases of tremendous highs are where you discover that the process actually works and your life starts taking on a face that you want and enjoy. For me, I learnt how to switch off my personality mind and to make time to step out of my day-to-day life and contemplate. I give myself time to consider things before I make decisions and try not to react in ways that do not work or bring me the desired outcome.
The whole thing about the practical Qabalah is to improve your life but to do that we need to know where the hazards are, so half of the time is discovering where our achilles heel is. In other words, looking at what brings us down and considering whether the way we react in certain situations and with certain people works well, or not. If our reactions do not work and bring us what we want, then looking at how we can change that. The dedication and commitment come into play here because we have a choice – whether to act or not.
Many people feel they have a function and a part to play in life.
They do. We all do. We all have Soul Names and Mottos for life.
The familiar saying: “There are many called but few are chosen” – is very thought provoking.
We are all special with magical talents and creative abilities waiting to be expressed
From my perspective to become a Qabalist not only takes dedication and commitment, it takes endurance too – to keep going. The aim is to teach others by example but before we can rush out to help others, we have to observe ourselves first. This takes time and patience.
The Qabalah is first and foremost about Being and Knowing yourself. So that means
Being Yourself at All Times
There is no place for lip service. Talking about what you want to do or be is a good start but it needs to be backed up with action. Enlightenment has to be worked towards – thinking you already know it all, or don’t have to do anything other than just ‘Be’ is a misconception. Enlightenment comes at a price. Everything in the Universe works on a level of exchange. The exchange for enlightenment is not on the monetary level, it’s on all levels: physically, emotionally and mentally, and if you count the cost then perhaps you don’t want it enough.
To fully embrace Qabalah means to change your life forever. Only you can change your life and you have to ask yourself if you have a Will that is strong, and focused enough to succeed.
Qabalah helps us to recognise what is happening in our life and to see the bigger, spiritual picture. This ancient Philosophy explains how to walk in time with the natural flow of the universe, and to go with the tide rather than be dragged along by it. For if you continually try to battle against the tide, and the Universal Laws, you will simply run out of energy.
For me – Lorraine Morgan – this is what studying the practical Qabalah means.
